The January Meeting:
On January 22nd we had a great get-together at the offices of Lend Lease at Shanghai’s K. Wah Center. Clestra China was our sponsor for food and drinks. This was a presentation by Xiaomeng Yu, BIM Director at Shanghai Construction Group.
As BIM Director at Shanghai Construction Group, Xioameng was already aware of the changing regulatory environment as it pertains to BIM. To provide context, Xiaomeng set out by contrasting the promises and realities of using BIM to deliver complex construction projects; primarily using the very present Shanghai Tower as a case study. He also talked about his expectations for BIM in the future — providing his opinions on what can be done to further transform the construction supply chain. As usual, this led to a very lively and honest discussion that included Global BIM Experts as well as those new to Building Information Modeling.
In platforms like shanghaiBIM, practitioners are learning to step up and adapt to new and multi-faceted realities by sharing experiences and viewpoints. Online, its great to have the archived slideshow to continue the discussion and look back at our communal touchstones.
Below is the flash version of Xiaomeng’s slideshow which can be played in most desktop browsers. This slideshow includes Animations (wi-fi requires more time). If you hover your mouse over the screen and a blue bar appears, there is an animation embedded.
